My Footprint

Vestige: a trace, mark, or visible sign left by something (as an ancient city or a condition or practice) vanished or lost. I don't plan anything I record on this blog to have a lasting impression on this or future generations, it is simply my footprint in the sand, when the tide comes in, it will be erased.

Cardboard... Cardboard... Cardboard...

Closed on the house on Monday last week. Movers showed up 30 minutes late on that following Wednesday and it ended up taking 2 trips in their truck with me helping them pack the 2nd truck to get moved. Still had to run several car loads in my car (yes, I bought my new car Monday night as well!!) Honestly, I think I am more excited about my new car than I am about the house, but I'm sure that will change.

There are boxes everywhere, packed, unpacked, broken down, and otherwise. I have almost tripled my living space and yet I have nowhere to put the things I am unpacking. How crazy is that?

So far there was one room (mine) that had a bad circuit breaker, so no power for 3 days in that room. Phone jack doesn't work in that room either, still waiting on that repair. The front door whistles like a freight train, the dishwasher over-flowed the counter tops the first time I used it (turns out they didn't punch the 'plug' out of the garbage disposal where the dishwashers exit hose connects). Still haven't gotten a key for the cluster mailbox, they said a couple of more days but if I see the carrier to just show him my ID and he will give me my mail. Of course I never see him/her.

But the most annoying thing so far with the house is that I can't get my high speed cable/internet connection until September 4th. I am SO over dial up connections! Especially since we recently upgraded to a T1 connection at work. Makes dial up and even cable look sickeningly slow.

So, in truth, I LOVE my house. Takes time for things to settle in. Still don't feel.... secure? in my house yet. But finally last night I had carnal relations with myself so I guess I am getting used to the place.
